A recovery phrase (sometimes known as a seed phrase) is a series of words generated by your cryptocurrency wallet that gives you access to the crypto associated with that wallet. You can read more about it here.

Please note that anyone with access to your wallet's Recover/Seed phrase, can access all funds in your wallet. So, always make sure to keep your Seed/Recovery Phrase secure and to NEVER share it with anyone.


Exodus (Desktop)

  1. Open "Settings".
  2. Switch to Backup Tab and set a password for your wallet's Backup. Make sure to not forget this password.
  3. Click on "View Secret Phrase" to view your wallet's Seed Phrase.
  4. Click on "Show Secret Recovery Phrase". This will show 12 words in a particular order. Make sure to write down these words with exact spellings and order somewhere secure. Don't share this Seed/Recovery Phrase because using this Phrase anyone can get access to all funds in your wallet. Once you have written down the recovery phrase you can click on "Done".
  5. If you can't find written Seed/Recovery Phrase or has already generated Recovery Phrase previously, you can click on View to view it again. 


Blockchain (Desktop) [New Beta Version]

  1. Login into your Blockchain wallet.
  2. Go Settings > Security > Recovery Phrase and click on Backup (or Backup Again)
  3. A pop-up will appear. Click on "View Recovery Phrase".
  4. Write down the 12 words Recovery Phrase.
